*Andreas Hofer, born November 22, 1767 in San Leonardo in Passiria and died February 20, 1810 in Mantua, was a Tyrolean insurgent. An innkeeper by profession, he was the instigator of the Tyrolean rebellion against the armies of the French Empire and the Kingdom of Bavaria.
