Louis MAJORELLE (1859-1926) attributed to Rectangular colored wool carpet with a central design of stylized violet leaves on a beige background and a frieze of arums around the edge. 351 x 242 cm Wear, small chips. Provenance: study of Maître Philippe HOUOT, 7 rue Chanzy, Nancy; since left in the family. History: the Houot house was commissioned in 1905 by Maître Philippe HOUOT, a Nancy notary, following the growth of his practice. The building was designed by architect Joseph HORNECKER, with interior decoration by Edgard BRANDT, Léon SUMERLY and Louis MAJORELLE. The notary's building is now listed as a historic monument. Lot sold by appointment - Storage and retrieval by appointment.
