Travel "night light" clock
Gilded brass rotating dial with cut-out Roman numerals for the hours, allowing night-time reading by placing a candle on a small platform at the back of the object. Dove of the Holy Spirit indicating the hours at the top, surrounded by gilded bronzes finely chased with shells and foliage. Resting on a folding and removable quadripod base for easy transport.
Late 17th - early 18th century, Netherlands.
Height : 34 cm.
Modifications to the movement, missing balance wheel
Related item: Copper, brass and bronze nightlight clock, Netherlands, late 17th century, on loan from the Musée du Louvre from 1947 to the Musée du Temps in Besançon.
