Violin-shaped cartel and console in blackened wood (repainted) resting on four stapled feet. The case, opening through a glass door (cracked), is richly decorated with Rocaille gilded and chased bronzes, such as foliate scrolls and clasps. White enameled cartouche dial (accident) showing hours in Roman numerals and minutes in Arabic numerals. The movement features a wire suspension, star-shaped count wheel and single balance wheel. Movement and dial signed J. CH. BALTAZAR A PARIS. Mid 18th century H. 78.6 cm - W. 39 cm - D. 16.5 cm Console: H. 36.5 cm - W. 45 cm - D. 25 cm Damage, cracked glass, oxidation, restoration and missing parts.
