Blood jasper snuffbox, gold and enamel mount. England, circa 1760. Egg-shaped, the frame with threaded scrolls and garlands of flowers; the rim of the lid with a white enamel band, and the inscription in gold letters: "Mon amitié vous l'offre" ("My friendship offers it to you"). No original hallmark. Later inscribed with the "tête d'aigle" title mark (twice). Height: 4.5 cm - Gross weight: 19.49 g. (accidents and chips, the bloodstone on the lid is missing). In a gilded red morocco case.
