LU / Lefèvre-Utile - Lot 367
LU / Lefèvre-Utile
Lithographed tin box, illustrated with a "Directoire" scene. Imp Chambon. Nantes.
Oxidations, dents and missing parts.
Dim : 8,9 x 20,5 x 13,8 cm
From 1892 onwards, Louis Lefèvre used the metal printing process pioneered by competitors across the Channel.
This new packaging revolutionized the advertising and sales strategies of the food industry, and provided LU with an extraordinary medium for communication and creation.
With the exception of the box of views of Nantes, illustrated by A. de Broca, we don't know the artists who created the images for LU.
To sell better, you have to seduce the eye.
So, associating artists' creations with industrial products quickly became a reality at Lefèvre-Utile.
It was at this time that a strong commercial strategy focused on product quality was put in place, along with a constant search for novelty in packaging, both in terms of style and product preservation performance.
