FRANCKEN Frans II (Atelier de) Antwerp 1581 - 1642 1 - Lot and his daughters. In the background, on the left, Lot's wife turned into a statue of salt; on the right, Gomorrah on fire (Bible. Genesis, 19). Oil on panel. Oak. Flooring (small gap at top right). H. 10.2 - L. 27.5 cm. To be compared with the composition by Frans Francken le Jeune in the Santa Cruz Museum, Toledo (Canvas; 56 x 76 cm). 2- Jonah and the whale (Bible. Jonah.2) Oil on panel. Oak. Parquetage. H. 10 - L. 27.5 cm. Provenance: On the reverse, two small pen-and-ink labels ACHETE PAR MON GRAND-PERE DU BERNARD SUR LES QUAIS D'ANVERS PENDANT LES GUERRES DE NAPOLEON Ier / VENANT DE CARPENTRAS AVRIL 1933 (?). Wood and gilded stucco frames with palmettes and foliate scrolls. Minor accidents.
