TIBET - 18th century Gilded bronze statuette of Shakyamuni seated in padmasana on the double lotus, hands in dharmacakra mudra (setting in motion the wheel of the law), monastic vestment revealing one shoulder. H. 18.1 cm Provenance: Collection of Doctor Maurice Fournials. Appointed in 1923 to the French occupation corps in China, he later became the guard physician at the French legation in Peking, then assistant physician to the President of the Chinese Republic.
