Extremely rare printing by the Imprimerie royale de Maulévrier, a temporary travelling press established at the headquarters of the royalist armies of Stofflet, Sapineau and Scepeaux.
The booklet is dated June 22, 1795, the first year of Louis XVIII's reign.
Yes, our brave comrades, we tell you today, in the face of Almighty God in whom we have placed all our trust, Abbé Syeyes was the prime mover behind the assassination of Louis XVI. Abbé Syeyes, Fréron, Legendre, Robespierre, Tallien, Danton [...] have all laid their regicidal hands on the throne of our kings, they have shared the spoils of our fathers and the blood of our children.
It was in the forest of Maulévrier, near Cholet, where General Stofflet took refuge in 1794, that the printing works was first established, run by Pierre Chambart; it lasted only six months, before being destroyed by the Republican armies (cf. Pasquier et Dauphin, Imprimeurs et libraires de l'Anjou, 1932).
