First edition of the author's first collection of stories, illustrated with 8 pen-and-ink lithographs by his friend Job (Ernest Lafontan), one of which is the frontispiece (Carteret, I, p. 171; Oberlé, Poulet-Malassis, n°353).
Edition of 300 copies.
Baudelaire devoted a very favorable article to this collection in Corsaire-Satan in 1845.
A fine copy with a signed letter on the title: À Porphyre Labitte son ami.
