Rare account of the mouth of the house of the Duc d'Anjou for the day of July 29, 1566 at Chantilly. The various expenses for food and drink: panneterie, échansonnerie, cuisine, fruicterie, and fourrière, are noted in this account: "Aux moynes de Reaulmont [Royaumont] pour ii septiers vin de bouche lx sols"... The wages of various members of the young Prince's household are also listed and pledged: the maître d'hôtel Strossy, the maître d'hôtel Alamanni, the treasurer, the controller, the clerc d'office, the "precepteur de Monseigneur", the physician Millet, the apothecary, the writer, the chaplain and clerc de chapelle, the body washer, etc... [Niccolo Alamanni, son of Luigi (1495-1556, Florentine poet exiled to France and protégé of Francis), born around 1520, followed a career of arms in the service of France. In 1553, he took part in the Siena campaign; in 1555, he was given command of two galleys sent to help Genoa. A protégé of Catherine de Médicis, he became master of the royal palace].
