Gin 1495 is a tribute to our history and the many
to our region's many skills!
It's a tribute to the first gin recipe
listed in Eric de Lage Landen's encyclopedia Jenever
in de Lage Landen by Eric van Schoonenberghe,
Edition Stichting Kunstboek, page 57.
It is referenced as coming from a kitchen manuscript
of a wealthy Dutch merchant,
from the collection of Sir Hans Sloan, which was
entrusted in 1753 to the British Library in London under
folio 345.
It expressly mentions that the recipe
the recipe could be made with Hamburg beer
but that it would be much better with wine distilled
from the Charentes region...
Maison Villevert, famous for its creations
such as G'Vine Gin, the only French gin made
grape and vine flower, has applied all its expertise to this historic gin. In 2014,
Jean-Sébastien Robicquet, President and Founder
of Maison Villevert, contacted the British Library
Library in London, digitized the folio, translated the recipe
the recipe and then brought together eminent experts Dave
Wondrich, Gary Regan, Dave Broom and Philip Duff
to work on this document. Their journey,
from the British Library to the Jenever Museum in
ended at Maison Villevert, where they set about
interpreted and recreated the product with him.

Then, together, they projected themselves a century

Interpretãtio, its more modern expression
in which citrus fruits from the New World
