Trapezoidal bronze plaque after MORLON. - Lot 49
Trapezoidal bronze plaque after MORLON. Obverse: an automobile guided by the allegory of speed, flying with outstretched arm and wearing a winged helmet, in a leafy setting. Signed on the right. Reverse: anepigraph. In its case, bronze and cornucopia on the edge. Top : 51 x 89 - Bottom : 51 x 72 mm. Note: the plate presented by Alexandre Morlon at the 1909 Salon des artistes français in a "frame containing plates and medals" (no. 3994) was noticed by the French Mint, which acquired it on September 4, 1909. The Mint's catalog describes the obverse of this plate as follows: "Above an automobile launched at full power, flies the genius of speed". Our thanks to the Mâcon Numismatic Club.
