Manuscript in-folio of approximately 830 pages, marbled calf, ornate spine, red and brown titles, interior roulette, speckled blue edges (Binding of the period).
A very interesting 18th-century manuscript relating to the Ponts et Chaussées, with more than 800 pages of regulated text.
It records administrative decisions taken by the Paris finance office for the supervision of roads and bridges in the generality, from 1580 to 1759.
The finance offices were created in 1577, following the merger of the treasurers of France, responsible for managing the treasury, and the generals of finance, responsible for distributing subsidies. Spread throughout the kingdom, they were responsible for the administration and jurisdiction of finances in each of France's generalities.
