Pen, still brown, gray wash and white highlights. Glued to cardboard (stains)
Traces of old inscriptions lower left.
On the reverse of the backing sheet, a small label in 20th-century blue ink Anton Raphaël Mengs, with his dates, his title 1st painter to King Charles III of Spain in 1761.

To be compared with neo-classical drawings on antique themes, of similar dimensions and identical technique in pen, brown ink, brown wash and white highlights, by Raphael Mengs, such as La mort de Virginie (Vienna, Albertina), Vénus pleurant la mort d'Adonis (c. 1757; France CP) or Le Jugement de Paris (c. 1756 - 1757).
