HEEMSKERCK Egbert van Haarlem 1634 - London 1702 / 1704 Assembly of Quakers Oil on panel. Oak. H.32,2 - L. 24 cm Probably the panel engraved by Isaac Beckett (1653 - 1719), whose proof (1683 - 1688) served as a model for a similar drawing in the British Museum (inv / cat. nr. 1895.0915.1170). Egbert van Heemskerck the Elder's work on Quaker meetings has been reproduced on several occasions: one drawing is in the Louvre (inv / cat nr. 23469), another in a Dutch private collection (RKD Heemskerck 12 / 287). A canvas (63.2 x 74 cm) with a similar motif, owned by the Johnny Van Haeften Gallery (London), was exhibited at TEFAF in Maastricht in 2003, while another composition is kept at Hampton Court (royal collection. inv. / cat. nr. RCIN 402 985).
