WENTZEL Jean Frédéric after ALSACE AND LORRAINE Allegorical oil on canvas. Two young girls in Alsatian and Lorraine costume, hands clasped, surround a woman wearing a laurel wreath symbolizing France. Signed Elie Fr lower left, 61 x 50 cm - Repainted on a new stretcher. Note: after the lithograph created by J F Wentzel for the annexation of Alsace and Moselle by Prussia. A copy is in the collections of the Musée Westercamp in Wissembourg.
