PARIS 1777 - 1778 Oval, hinged, multi-tone gold snuffbox, chased in bas-relief. The lid features an oval medallion depicting a scene combining the themes of love and nature, around a quiver, birds and a watering can on a guilloché background. The sides are guilloché with "barley grain" background panels, and the four-pillared frame with capital and falling drapery frames oval medallions of floral motifs, as does the reverse. A frieze of flowering laurels runs around the edge of the lid, echoed on the rim and reverse.
