Ville VALLGREN (1855 - 1940) "Funerary urn". Shaded medal-brown patinated bronze proof with shouldered conical body and flared tubular neck adorned with a crouching young girl holding her head forming a handle (stopper missing). Signed and dated 1892. Height: 20.5 cm History: The model of this piece was probably exhibited at the first Salon de la Rose-Croix, held at the Galerie Durand-Ruel in Paris from March 10 to April 10, 1892. A bronze "funerary urn" is indeed described under no. 215 in the catalog published on this occasion (without illustration). A similar model is in the collections of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm (inv. NMK 137/1972).
