BOISGUILBERT (Pierre Le Pesant de). Le Détail de la France sous le règne présent. S.l.s.n, 1707. 2 volumes in-12, brown calf, ornate spine, red parts, speckled edges (Binding of the period). The most complete edition, partly original. Compared with the first edition of 1695, it includes a 12-page supplement that led to the book's condemnation. The first protest against the economic system of the time and a demand for freedom of trade, the work paved the way for 18th-century political economy. Engraved bookplate of the Marquis d'Aligre, President of the Parliament of Paris. Joints restored, endpapers renewed.
