Necker's slim pamphlet Sur le bonheur des sots occupies pp. 121-134, the rest of the volume containing the moral treatise by Meister, Grimm's secretary and friend of Diderot and Necker.
According to Necker, the pillars of the mercantilist state were power and happiness (cf. Spengler, p. 300).
Early handwritten signature on title.
Marginal stains on the endpapers, title and last two leaves, due to the skin turning over on the flyleaves. Epidermal damage to binding.
