The work of Sainte-Claire Deville (1811-1881) is of considerable importance in the field of chemistry: this experimentalist, founder of chemical mechanics, developed a process for manufacturing aluminum on an industrial scale. This book covers the physical and chemical properties of aluminum, its preparation, extraction methods and industrial applications (Philippe Zoummeroff in En français dans le texte, n°279).
