Biography - Igor Talwinski (1907-1983)
Born in Warsaw in 1907, he graduated from the Technical
technical and electrical school. He took part in the war in Poland
then in the Warsaw Resistance in 1944. Deported to
Germany, later liberated by the Americans, Igor Talwinski
arrived in France in 1945 and worked as a technician.
He developed a taste for painting and attended the
Académie de la Grande Chaumière. Naturalized French
in 1955, he devoted himself fully to his art from
1959. A figurative painter, Talwinski exhibited every year at the
Artistes Français, of which he is a member. He was awarded an
honorable mention in 1953, and also took part in the Salon d'hiver
and the Salon de l'école française.
Although he treats other subjects such as still lifes, flowers and landscapes
flowers and landscapes, his art focuses mainly on the evocation
evocation of the female body, its grace and sensuality.
Relying on solid drawing, Talwinski gently brushes
the faces and bodies of his models, which he accentuates
accentuated by lively knife strokes that sculpt the material
and enlivening the luminous backgrounds of his compositions. He is also
also an excellent portraitist.
Early works, produced when he was living in the
5th arrondissement of Paris, there's a close affinity with the
Paris School: paste work, muted tones. Then
his execution becomes bolder and light invades his compositions,
softly modeling bodies. Knife work
became increasingly important, and towards the end of his life
vibrant works towards the end of his life.
Inspired by the piquant charm of the 18th-century French school
French school, Igor Talwinski perfected his technical mastery
for the pleasure of depicting one of art's universal motifs
of art: the woman.
