JAPAN - MEIJI period (1868 - 1912) Gyobunashiji lacquer globular incense burner with inlaid mother-of-pearl and hardstone "Shibayama" decoration in medallions on a fundame background of figures under cherry blossoms by a river and carp, wisteria, magnolia and peonies. The base, lid grip and handles are in partially enameled shibuichi, the peony base, carp-shaped handles and shishi grip. Nashiji interior. On the reverse, signed Masatsugu (crack and accident to the lid, missing inlays, restoration to the foot). H. 25.7 cm
