Orientalist photography, Orient, Asia, Japan. Set of two photographic albums. A first photographic album, hardcover and lacquered (missing some parts, including the edge), consisting of approximately 48 albumen prints, mostly colorized and mounted on cardboard. Circa 1870-1900. On some visuals: titles. Examples: "Japanese Noble and General Officer", "167 Emperor Hotel, Tokio", "563 Fujiyama from Tagonoura", "A399 View of Koke", "O60 Japanese Junk", "R 39 Orientale Hotel, Kobe", etc. Medium visual format approx. 25.5 x 20.5 cm, mount format approx. 33 x 26 cm and full book format approx. 35 x 28 cm. As is, with numerous brown spots. Attached is a second photographic album, "destructured" and missing, consisting of nine albumin prints, mostly colored and mounted on cardboard. On the fronts of the visuals, captions (e.g. "G50 Bund Nagasaki" or "178 View of Yokohama"). Medium visual format approx. 25.5 x 19.5 cm, mount format approx. 33 x 23 cm and medium book format approx. 34.5 x 24 cm.
